Welcome to Ibanda -Kyerwa National Park

The Ibanda-Kyerwa National Park, previously Ibanda Game Reserve, is a national park in Tanzania. Originally established in 1974, it was designated a national park in 2019,and has an area of 200 square kilometers (77 sq mi).The National park is located in Kagera Region.

The unseen treasure in the Western corner of the country, the paradise with scenic beauty of rolling hills, valleys, plains of Acacia savannah, the central basin dissected by seasonal rivers filling the scattered lakes and swamps all blow your visit to this undiscovered park. it is in this park where the three countries of Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda borders’ meet.

The park is rich in wildlife attractions and sunrise and sunset are easily seen. Kagera river is the main source of water for this park and nourishes its rich resources. Leopard, Hippos, Roan antelopes, Buffalo and many more are found in this park.Hunting safaris are the most common activities in this area.

Transport:

The park can be reached by flight from Dar es Salaam Airport to Bukoba Airport and then by road from Bukoba town to the park.

By Road.The Park can be reached by road from Bukoba to Murongo (220km) or from Chato to Murongo (327km) and also from Uganda via Murongo town which is about 3.5km from the Park.

By Air. The park can be accessed by scheduled flight via Chato, Kigoma, or Bukoba  Airports.

Climate

There are two rainy seasons in a year, short rainy period is from October to November and the wet season is from March to May. Kagera River is the main source of water for this park and nourishes its rich resources
