Nyerere National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania and in Africa and also one of the world’s largest wildlife sanctuaries and national parks it covers an area of about 30,893 Km Square , The park is located in South Easter Tanzania roughly 230 km by road from the main business city of Dar Es Salaam to the park main entrance gate known as Mtemere Gate. This park was before a part of the great Selous game reserves, it has created a huge wilderness area for safari and wildlife observation in southern Tanzania.
Nyerere National Park boasts of the largest concentration of wild animals and a rich collection of wildlife that is abundant and diverse. The fact that this park is new and largely less frequent visited by tourist means that the animals here tend to be less exposed to human.Good numbers of Big cats such as Lion, Leopard,Cheetah are to be found here along with other large game animals such as Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest and other more wildlife. As Tanapa and Tanzania Government establishes Nyerere National Park in 2019 in a move to open up this part of the country for more tourists activities now is the time for visiting and investing more infrastructure to allow the flow of tourist into and outside the park .This park is also close to Selous game reserves and New Hydroelectric power dam of 2115MW. built on the great Rufiji river.
Transport:The best way to access the park is by air. There are daily scheduled flights from either Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar with a flight time of under an hour to a variety of different airstrips close or inside Nyerere. National park, these include.
